Yamaha R15 V 3.0 spotted wearing black and gold paint job.

The much anticipated Yamaha R15 V 3.0 is going to launch in India soon. While the bike’s been on sale in Indonesia for quite a while, the dealers have started promoting their products by introducing special editions. One such example is the R15 V3.0 spotted at a dealership in Indonesia wearing black and gold dual-tone paint. The difference only being the paint and liveries, let us know in the comments below if you like it or not.

2018 Yamaha R15 V 3.0 Special Edition in Indonesia

The 2018 Yamaha R15 V3.0 spotted at a dealership in Indonesia features a black and gold dual-tone paint job. Cargloss Paint Works came up with the idea and even designed custom liveries for the bike. The alloys have been painted in gold as well to match the gold highlight done on the bike’s fairing. The fairing, fuel tank and headlamp cowl feature custom liveries to enhance the sporty character of the bike. The front fender adorns golden accent along with a Michelin sticker. As reported, the workshop used the water brush technique for the paint job.

The custom paint job obviously demands a premium over the standard version. While the stock version retails for IDR 34,500,000 (INR 1.54 lakh), the former demands about IDR 3 million (INR 13,500) worth of premium as a kit amounting to a total of IDR 35,100,000 (INR 1.58 lakh) for the custom model. All the prices indicated are inclusive of all taxes and are on-road prices. Considering the amount of work of custom paint and liveries installed on the R15 V3.0, we say it definitely is worth it and is a step in the right direction.

The 155.1 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine comes with the brand new Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology. The engine churns out 19.31 PS of power and 14,7 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. The front of the R15 V3.0 features upside down forks while the rear adorns link-type monoshock. Disc brakes do their duty at both ends and the front disc expands to 282 mm.

The 2018 Yamaha R3 India Launch to Happen Soon. Facelift features BS-IV compliant engine along with new paint schemes.

Yamaha Motor India is quite keen on taking over the sports bike segment in the nation. The company offers several brilliant products under its ‘R’ line. The R15 is the youngest of them all, has reached its fourth generation and the R15 V4.0 will be launching soon in India. While we await the 150cc street sports bike, let’s take a look at the track focus 300cc R3 by Yamaha. The 2018 Yamaha R3 India launch is likely to take place at the Auto Expo 2018. The R3 is a track focussed sports bike, had a few takers when it went on sale. The customers were disappointed mostly because of the lack of ABS, even as an option and the sticker price, as clearly the KTM RC 390 was more powerful and offered all the goodies, the R3 didn’t.

The 2018 Yamaha R3 will host minimal changes in terms of the overall product. The only difference to the model it replaces is the BS-IV compliance and new paint schemes. The mechanical underpinnings on the upcoming Yamaha R3 remain unaltered. In the US, Yamaha sells the R3 in both non-ABS and ABS versions. The phased out R3 in India was the former. The upcoming R3 is expected to carry ABS because of the government’s law that entitles any motor vehicle above 125cc to have ABS as standard.

As per US regulations, the claimed fuel efficiency of the R3 stands at 23.8 kmpl.

2018 Yamaha R3 Competition

New Yamaha R15 V3.0 Launch at Auto Expo 2018, Bookings Open!

It has been quite a while since news of Yamaha’s plans of launching the R15 V3 in India first emerged. While we have already seen several spy images of the new motorcycle having reached the dealerships, we are yet to hear from the company regarding the official launch date. Now, in the latest development, it has come to light that bookings for the new motorcycle have finally opened at the authorized dealership. Moreover, a new report claims that the new Yamaha R15 V3.0 launch will take place at the Auto Expo 2018 in February this year.

It’s worth a mention here that the company is yet to disclose the official launch date. However, the latest piece of info comes from an official dealer, who told the good folks at Rushlane about the company’s plans of launching the bike next month. Deliveries will commence soon after the official launch. The R15 V3 for India isn’t exactly like the model on sale abroad. For India, the V3.0 misses out on many features to keep costs under a check.

Also See – Yamaha R15 v 3.0 vs Yamaha R15 v2 Yamaha RD350 Relaunch

Many spy images that we have seen so far make it rather clear that the India-spec R15 V3 misses out on the upside-down front forks that the international model comes with. Also, it doesn’t look like we would get ABS. Also, the India-spec motorcycle gets a V2-like fender instead of the sportier fender of the V3. The Indian motorcycle also gets MRF tires instead of the IRC rubber. We don’t even expect a slipper clutch for our market. Finally, even the foot pegs are the same as earlier instead of being the aluminium units seen on the internationals-spec bike. So, basically, the new Yamaha R15 V3.0 for India is more of a facelift than being the all-new model that’s on sale abroad.

New Yamaha R15 V3.0 Price

While we are sad that Yamaha India won’t launch the international-spec bike here, it’s worth a mention here that this a strategy to keep prices under a check. Bringing the international model here would have led to a rather exorbitant price tag for a 150cc offering. Hence, the downgraded model will help the company to make sure that the price of the R15, which is currently around Rs 1.2 lakh (ex-showroom), doesn’t see much of a hike. Bookings for the new model have started for an amount of Rs 5,000.

New Yamaha R15 V3.0 Specifications

Even the engine is likely to be the same as the one on the V2.0. The full-fledged V3.0 gets a new 155.1cc single cylinder, liquid cooled, fuel injected engine that benefits from a Variable Valve Actuation. The new engine outputs a maximum power of 19.31 PS along with a peak torque of 14.7 Nm. It comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission.  The new Yamaha R15 V3.0 gets an 11-litre fuel tank and tips the scales at 137 KGs. It comes with a host of new colour schemes, which include Matte Black, Race Blue, and Matt Red options. Also, the international model gets LED headlamps, slipper clutch, Antilock Braking System (ABS), and Upside Down front forks.

It comes with an aggressive and sculpted body, giving the muscularity to the bike. The ‘Dominar’ plate on the beefy fuel tank, just looks perfect on its chiselled body. The LED headlamps with a small windscreen add to the manliness of the bike. Other design elements include a skid plate, broad handlebars, sporty rear side-tails and a well-designed cowl. Also, the machined alloy wheels and the sporty mudguard add to the finishing touch. From the rear, it copies the tail light styling from Pulsar. A small exhaust muffler is fitted on the big Dominar, which looks a little usual. However, as the frame of the bike is heavy, it gets a little scary to overtake at high speeds.

Bajaj Dominar 400 – Engine And Transmission

Engine 373 CC
Power 34.5 BHP
Torque 35 Nm
Cooling System Liquid Cooled
Engine Type Triple spark 4-valve DTS-i engine
Transmission 6-speed Slipper Clutch

Dominar 400 runs on a 373 CC Liquid Cooled engine that produces 34.5 BHP worth power and 35 Nm worth torque. It comes with a fuel injection system. Although it copies some elements from KTM Duke, it uses Bajaj’s trademark Triple spark 4-valve DTS-i engine. Dominar also uses a single camshaft, instead of two, to operate the four valves. In terms of transmission, it uses a Slipper clutch that is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Bajaj Dominar 400 – Mileage And Performance

Mileage 27 KMPL (Claimed)
Fuel Capacity 13 Litres
Reserve Capacity 2 Litres
Riding Range 351 Kms
Top Speed 147 KMPH
0-100 KMPH 8.4 Seconds

Dominar delivers a claimed mileage of 27 KMPL, which is good for a 400 CC bike. It comes with a fuel tank capacity of 13 Litres with 2 Litres reserve fuel capacity. It delivers a total riding range of 351 Kms. The bike records a high speed of 147 Kmph. Also, Dominar clocks 0-100 KMPH in flat 8.4 seconds. The 0-100 KMPH record is not much higher than KTM Duke, making it a mix of a sports bike and a cruiser. Importantly, even bike if the bike is cruising at 120 KMPH, it would not vibrate and still would give a chance of overtaking.

Bajaj Dominar 400 – Chassis, Suspension And Dimension

Dominar 400 comes with a height of 1112 mm, length of 2156 mm and width of 813 mm. The wheelbase is good at 1453 mm and the ground clearance is around 157 mm. A larger wheelbase and ground clearance indicate its off-road capabilities. The bike weighs a little heavy at 182 Kgs. Dominar is built on a Beam Type Perimeter Frame. In the front, it uses 43 mm DIA telescopic forks and in the rear, it uses Multistep Adjustable Monoshock. The rear suspension offers good comfort depending on the speed.

Bajaj Dominar 400 – Braking System

Front Disc – 320 mm
Rear Disc – 230 mm
ABS Dual Channel ABS

Dominar comes in two variants – ABS and Disc Brakes – which are both useful in this beast. Dominar uses 320 mm disc brakes in the front, which is the largest in its segment. In the back, it uses 230 mm disc brakes. The higher variant comes with a Dual Channel ABS, which is quite comfortable in terms of jerks while driving. However, such brakes are useful for handling such a bike.

Bajaj Dominar 400 – Features

Dominar comes with way-load of features, which most of them in the segment do not offer. Must say, Dominar 400 is quite technology savvy. It comes with the following features:

  1. Split Reverse LCD Display
  2. Automatic LED Headlamps
  3. Slipper Clutch
  4. Fully Digital Instrument Cluster
  5. Dual Channel ABS
  6. Gear, Fuel, Low Oil, Low Battery Indicators
  7. Engine Kill Switch
  8. Clock
  9. Tell-Tale Lights
  10. Sporty rear side-tails

Bajaj Dominar 400 – Colours

Dominar 400 is currently available in three colours – Rock Matte Black, Glacier Blue and Canyon Red. However, I think the Matte Black goes perfectly with it because of the black alloy wheels.

Bajaj Dominar 400 – Competition

Currently, Dominar 400 has a very stiff competition given to its aggressive pricing. Also, Dominar swings both sides as a sports bike and as a cruiser. So, it faces comparison from both the sides. It competes with the likes of Mahindra Mojo, KTM Duke 390, Honda CBR 250R, Royal Enfield Thunderbird and Yamaha FZ 25. However, the biggest advantage of Dominar is due to its huge list of features and impressive performance specs.

Yamaha Motorcycles India recently launched one of the most awaited motorcycles of the recent times, the Yamaha R15 V3.0. The bike sports a 155 CC SOHC engine that is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The bike is priced aggressively at Rs 1.25 Lakh (ex-showroom).

The latest iteration of the Yamaha R15 made its global debut in Indonesia in January this year. The India-spec model, however, is not an all-new version and is based on the V2.0. This will ensure that the prices remain under check. The new version of R15 takes some underpinnings from its sibling, Yamaha R1. The Yamaha R15 is priced starting from Rs 1.25 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The sports bike competes with the likes of Suzuki Gixxer SF and Honda CBR 150R. Read on for complete details on the new Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 Price, Launch Date, Specifications, and Images.

The new motorcycle will also get new colour options. However, the new version of the R15 for India misses out on the upside-down front forks.

Missing Features on the Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 India spec model

The India-spec R15 V3.0 is somewhat based on the V2.0 and isn’t the new-generation that’s on sale abroad. The India-spec R15 V3.0 gets the same front forks that the V2.0 comes with. Yes, there are no USDs. Also, the motorcycle doesn’t get an ABS. It doesn’t get the sticky Pirellis. Also, the sportier fender of the V3.0 doesn’t make it to the model for our country. Even the footpegs seem to be the same. Also, going by the nature of omissions, it doesn’t look like even the slipper clutch would be offered on this motorcycle. You can say that the R15 V3 looks like a facelift of the V2 with some added features.

New Yamaha R15 Version 3 Design

The new Yamaha R15 V3.0 looks sportier than V2.0. Thanks to many new body panels and bits like USD forks, the Version 3.0 looks bigger. Also, new colour options and sporty decals should make the bike more attractive. The ‘pièce de résistance’ are new LED headlamps. Once aboard, you’ll be quick to appreciate the new digital speedo console. Also, the bike could have a more comfortable seating position for both the rider and the pillion. It’s worth a mention that the V2.0 has faced a lot of flak for an uncomfortable pillion seat. Some design inspiration could also come from the YZF R125 and YZF R6. Between the international V3.0 and Indian model, the former looks sportier thanks to upside-down front forks and alloy foot pegs. Both of these are missing from the Indian model.

Suzuki GSX-R150 Looks Like a Worthy Adversary to Yamaha YZF-R15!

The Suzuki GSX-R150 is expected to launch in this year. The R150 has none other than the Yamaha R15 and Honda CBR 150R in its sights. With a dry weight of just 126 KGs and a best-in-segment power output of 19.17 PS, the bike can become the next big thing in the world of lightweight, low displacement performance bikes.

Suzuki earlier revealed the new Suzuki GSX-R150 and GSX-S150 for the Indonesian market. The bike is expected to be priced aggressively around Rs 1.2 Lakh (ex-showroom). It gets clear sports bike looks with a lot of decals with the special ‘Suzuki’ decal over the bike. Both GSX-R150 and GSX-S150 bikes are based on the GSX-R125. Out of these new Suzuki motorcycles, it is the GSX-R150 that has at least some relevance to the Indian market. Suzuki Gixxer and Gixxer SF are performing quite well in the market. So, naturally, the brand image of Suzuki bikes in the Indian markets is good.  Read on for Suzuki GSX-R150 India launch prospects, price, specifications, top speed, mileage and more.

The GSX-R150 shares much of its bodywork with the GSX-R125. However, it features a bigger engine that comes from the Suzuki Satria. The GSX-S150, on the other hand, is a street naked version of the GSX-R150. As we just said, the former is a pretty important product. The new Suzuki could become a worthy alternative to both the R15 and the Honda CBR150R. Now, Suzuki GSX-R150 is expected to come to India this year carrying a competitive price on its head.

Suzuki GSX-R150 India Launch Date

Launch Date Second Half 2018

The official launch dates have not been mentioned yet. Suzuki GSX-R150 was showcased at the Auto Expo 2018, too. So definitely, the bike is expected to launch before this year end. If and when launched, this bike will be slotted above the Gixxer SF. As we’ve already said, it will lock horns with the Yamaha YZF-R15 and Honda CBR150R. We are keeping our fingers crossed for its launch in the Indian markets.

Honda Activa 5G – Competition

Currently, Honda Activa 5G competes with Hero Maestro Edge, Yamaha Fascino and TVS Jupiter. Maestro Edge comes with a fresh urban body unlike the Activa and does look good with its black alloy wheels. However, Maestro delivers a mileage of only 53 KMPL and does not offer features that Activa offers. Maestro misses out on a mobile charging socket, LED headlamps and the Digital-Analog Speedometer. Yamaha Fascino looks like some fancy Italian scooter due to its round handle and styling elements. Fascino, like Maestro, offers fewer features than Activa. It looks fancy though. One good thing about Fascino is that it delivers a claimed mileage of 66 KMPL and it offers a bigger 21 Litres of storage space.

Lastly, TVS Jupiter is a tough competitor because of their brand names. Jupiter falls in the same price, delivers a little more mileage and mainly gets an optional Disc brake in one of its variants. Jupiter, however, gives a passing light switch, which some people consider. On the other hand, like the other two competitors, it also misses out on some of the features. Indirectly, Activa competes with all gearless scooters, including the 125 CC scooters as it is the highest selling one. Following high sales of Activa 110 CC, Honda has also launched the lighter and cheaper Activa i and Activa 125.

The Legend Yamaha RX 100 Might Not Relaunch In India- We Explain

Yamaha RX 100 is a legend. Earlier back then, it was the king of the Indian roads. With its sporty styling and quick acceleration, every other Indian was drooling over the bike. It was 98 Kgs, which is very light, thus making it quick and agile. Recently, some rumours about RX 100 coming in a 4-stroke engine came out.

Yamaha has stopped production of its famous RX 100 and RX135 long back. It was one of the best sellers and most famous Motorbikes of its time. Recently, there were some rumours abound that Yamaha is working on a 4-stroke low pollution engine for new Yamaha RX 100 Bike. The styling of the bike will be similar to the original RX 100 styling. However, the bike might not make a comeback anytime soon, as confirmed by Yamaha. Old and modified RX 100 are sold varying from Rs 40,000 to whopping Rs 2 Lakhs. The love for this bike is infinite and this one put Yamaha as one of the top bike makers in India in the 1980s.

The rumours started somewhere around 2016. It emerged that a custom Yamaha RX-135 has been exhibited at a motor show in Malaysia. The legendary two-stroke motorcycle has got a purple chrome paint finish and golden highlights. The RX 135 has been known as the RX-K 135 in some markets where the K stands for King. RX 135 was RX 100’s older brother, which was available in the market till 2005. In the late 1990s, the emission norms grew stricter and were directed towards 4-stroke engine bikes. So, RX 100 shut and the RX 135 was launched with a 4-stroke engine. Following which, RX-Z, a typical old-school sports bike was also launched. The RX-Z was a huge hit amongst the youth. However, RX 135 did not have the same chutzpah as the RX 100 and it was not much successful.

The 1985 RX 136 that was on sale in some international markets got a bikini fairing and a tailpiece. In the custom bike here, things like the handlebar, grabrail, mud-guards, crankcase, front forks and the exhaust have been chrome-plated. The custom RX 135 here sports Showa front fork and Ohlins gas-charged rear shock-absorbers. The modified RX-135 you see here also sports Binter AR125 mag wheels and a disc brake at front with a Nissin calipers. The speedo console and the Rear View Mirrors have been carried over from the stock bike.

Highlighting the popularity of the Yamaha RX 135 amongst enthusiasts, in 2016, a news had emerged that a dealer in Bengaluru has auctioned off seven units of the iconic motorcycle for five figure sums. Rahul S Dhojanna, who owns Pace Motors, claims that enthusiasts at the auction shelled out around INR 1.5-165 lacs for the RX135 models. The dealer had been trying to sell these units for quite some time now, but had to wait in order to obtain necessary permissions from the RTO as registration of two-stroke bikes had been stopped.

The RX135 had been in production until 2005 and was a hit amongst biker thanks to its affordable price, easy maintenance, and good performance. Popularity of the model fueled rumours of Yamaha resurrecting the RX brand by launching an all-new version of the RX 100 with a 4-stroke engine. However, since then, Yamaha has denied reports regarding the re-launch of the Yamaha RX 100 in India.

Yamaha India currently has no presence in the 100-110 cc segment with their lowest capacity motorcycle being the Saluto. Currently, Yamaha says that it is focused on developing entry level 100-110 CC bikes. It had earlier planned of relaunching the legend, but the production costs and a 4-stroke engine led down the decision. We’ll be keeping a close eye on any further developments regarding the re-launch of the Yamaha RX 100 with a 4-stroke engine so make sure you stay tuned to Car Blog India for all the updates.

Yamaha launched the M Slaz in Thailand last year. Powering the Yamaha M Slaz is the same engine that powers the much-loved YZF-R15. In essence, the M-Slaz is nothing but the street naked version of the R15. While there were some rumours about the bike launching in India, it is confirmed that it would not come to India.

Yamaha M-Slaz (MT-15), the smallest in the MT series, would make for an interesting addition to the entry-level performance bike category in India. However, after its 2 years in the Thailand markets, it still shows no sign of coming to India. It was a naked street bike and would sit above the R15. Earlier, it was speculated that the bike would launch in Festive season 2016, which had not. It runs on a 150 CC engine, similar to the Yamaha R15. If launched in India, it would compete with Suzuki Gixxer, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Honda CB Hornet 160R. You can read details on Yamaha M Slaz price in India, features, specifications in our post here.

FZ-S is one of the earliest naked street bikes in the market. It has proper macho looks with a decent mileage figure. It is priced starting from Rs 83,402. In this article, we explain all the details including price, mileage, features, specs and more of the Yamaha FZ-S FI.

2018 yamaha fzs fi imagesAt the onset of commemorating 10 years of the FZ series in India, Yamaha came up with the 2018 Yamaha FZ-S FI. The highlight of the updated FZS FI is the introduction of a rear disc brake. Other than the introduction of a rear disc brake, there has been no change in the specifications as compared to the older generation. It comes with a digital speedometer, Fuel Injection system, and split grab rail. It is powered by a 155CC engine that produces 13 BHP worth of power and 12.8 Nm worth of torque. The FZ-S has an ex-showroom of Rs. 86,042. The bike competes with Apache RTR 1604V, Pulsar NS160, Gixxer and X-Blade.

Speaking on the launch in January, Mr. Roy Kurian, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. said, “The legacy of Yamaha’s FZ series in India is all about the inheritance of a unique motorcycling passion. Immensely popular with Indian bikers all the way through almost 10 years from the day it was launched in India, and winning over a million hearts, it was crowned to become the ‘lord of the streets’ by the collective culture of the country’s motorcycling. While its best seller features like build and appearance, superior engine technology, fuel mileage and suspension are retained, the new additions will excite the present and new customers.”

2018 Yamaha FZ-S FI – Price in India

Price (ex-showroom) Rs 83,042

The latest version of the FZ-S FI has gone on sale at an ex-showroom price of Rs 83,042. Compared to the earlier model, the new version is roughly Rs 1,000 costlier. However, the slight price premium is justified through the special paint job.

2018 Yamaha FZ-S FI – Design

The bike follows FZ16’s ‘Triple Muscular Concept’, portraying a macho image of the bike. One of the earliest naked street bikes, it gets a lot of muscle lines with decals over the body.  Other than the special paint scheme, the bike continues to offer a really butch styling. The front fascia makes the bike look meaner and leaner in our opinion. It gets a single seat arrangement, which is common in this segment. The instrument cluster gets a digital treatment as well and from the looks of it, seems like a pretty neat unit too. It also gets clear lens indicators. Further, the fact that this bike comes with black-painted engine goes on to give the motorcycle an all-black finish. The FZ series of bikes has already garnered a fan following owing to its muscular looks and strong street presence.

2018 Yamaha FZ-S FI – Specs

Engine Displacement 149 cc
No. Of Cylinder 1
Bore x Stroke 57 mm x 57 mm

Max. Power 13 bhp @ 8,000 rpm

The 2018 Yamaha FZ-S FI gets a rear disc brake. But there is no other change in the specifications. It continues to get its juice from a 149 cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that comes mated to a 5-speed manual Transmission. The engine produces a maximum power of 13 bhp @ 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 12.80 Nm @ 6,000 rpm. The engine is known for delivering a good mix of performance, mileage, and refinement.

As there are no changes in the specifications of the motorcycle, even the mileage remains the same. The FZ-S FI can deliver a maximum mileage of 50 KMPL. IN most conditions, the bike can offer an average mileage of roughly 45 KMPL.

2018 Yamaha FZ-S FI – Competition

The sub 160 CC segment is full of naked street bikes. Currently, it competes with Honda X-Blade, Apache RTR 1604V, Suzuki Gixxer and Pulsar NS160. However, some of these bikes offer more features than the Yamaha bike and also are more fuel efficient. However, Yamaha has its own set of followers who love the other members like the R3, YZF R15 and more.
