Yamaha has issued a recall notice for 1874 units of Yamaha YZF R3, manufactured for a special period. The affected motorcycles will be repaired free of cost.
Yamaha YZF R3 has been recalled in India for voluntary checks and repairs. A defect related to the Radiator Hose and Spring Torsion of the bike has led to the recalling the motorcycle.
The exact issue is related leaking of coolant from the radiator and widening of torsion spring. Total 1874 units manufactured between July 2015 to May 2018, sold in domestic and export market have been recalled.
As such, no R3 owners have reported this problem in their motorcycles. To solve this issue, Yamaha has initiated a factory modification campaign.
Yamaha dealerships will contact the owners individually to get their bikes for the checking campaign. After checking and detection, if found, Yamaha will replace the old parts with the new modified ones.
Yamaha YZF R3 is one of the entry-level fully faired sportsbike. It is the next variant to Yamaha R15, which is the most affordable sportsbike in India.
R3 comes with a liquid-cooled DOHC twin-cylinder 321cc engine. The engine produces 41 BHP of max. power and 29.6 Nm of peak torque. It pairs up with a 6-speed manual gearbox with a wet multiple-disc clutch.
For suspension purposes, Yamaha YZF R3 uses telescopic forks up front and a swingarm suspension with mono-shock absorbers at the back. For braking, it uses a 298mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the back. Dual-channel ABS comes as standard fitment.
The sportsbike weighs 173 Kgs, which is 36 kgs more than R15. It comes with a fuel capacity of 14 Litres. With an estimated mileage figure of 35 kmpl, it delivers a riding range of around 500 kms on a full tank.
Features onboard include a fully digital instrument panel, Metzeler Radial Tires, dual-channel ABS, Split seats, low-placed clip-on handlebars and the racebike feeling that you everytime get after sitting on it.
The instrument cluster comes loaded with Gear position indicator, Fuel gauge, Water temperature gauge, Real-time fuel economy and average fuel economy indicators, Clock, 2 Tripmeters and Oil change indicator.
Yamaha YZF R3 is priced at Rs 3.49 Lakhs (ex-showroom price). At this price, it competes with the likes of Kawasaki Ninja 300, BMW G310 R. KTM Duke 390 and TVS Apache RR 310.
Yamaha FZ-S is one of the first naked bikes in India and is still going strong in its 150-160cc segment. Yamaha prepares to update the bike as per the upcoming emission norms and safety regulations. Check out its price, mileage, images and top speed.
Yamaha is globally known for its performance and agile bikes. Right from the 150cc motorcycles to the legendary R1, all have the Yamaha performance loaded up.
In the Indian market, its best selling bike is Yamaha FZ-S. FZ adapts the street style naked looks combined with great mileage and performance. Yamaha has made it an all-rounder and well-balanced bike.
Recently, spy pics and a video of 2019 Yamaha FZ-S came up. Through the spying, we saw that the body received some revisions and it gets updated features list. There are chances of an addition of full LED headlamps, ABS and a revised instrument cluster.
Currently, it goes against Apache RTR 160 4V, CB Hornet 160R, Gixxer and Pulsar NS160. Currently, it goes against Apache RTR 160 4V, CB Hornet 160R, Gixxer and Pulsar NS160.
The latest version of the FZ-S FI has gone on sale at an ex-showroom price of Rs 83,042. Compared to the earlier model, the new version is roughly Rs 1,000 costlier. However, the slight price premium is justified through the special paint job.
The 2018 Yamaha FZ-S FI gets a rear disc brake. But there is no other change in the specifications. It continues to get its juice from a 149 cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that comes mated to a 5-speed manual Transmission. The engine produces a maximum power of 13 bhp @ 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 12.80 Nm @ 6,000 rpm. The engine is known for delivering a good mix of performance, mileage, and refinement. It gets a fuel capacity of 12 Litres.
As there are no changes in the specifications of the motorcycle, even the mileage remains the same. The FZ-S FI can deliver a maximum mileage of 50 KMPL. IN most conditions, the bike can offer an average mileage of roughly 45 KMPL. The overall riding range of the bike is around 600 Kms in a full fuel tank.

2018 Yamaha FZ-S FI – Design
The bike follows FZ16’s ‘Triple Muscular Concept’, portraying a macho image of the bike. One of the earliest naked street bikes, it gets a lot of muscle lines with decals over the body. Other than the special paint scheme, the bike continues to offer a really butch styling. The front fascia makes the bike look meaner and leaner in our opinion. It gets a single seat arrangement, which is common in this segment. The instrument cluster gets a digital treatment as well and from the looks of it, seems like a pretty neat unit too. It also gets clear lens indicators. Further, the fact that this bike comes with black-painted engine goes on to give the motorcycle an all-black finish. The FZ series of bikes has already garnered a fan following owing to its muscular looks and strong street presence.

2018 Yamaha FZ-S FI – Competition
The sub 160 CC segment is full of naked street bikes. Currently, it competes with Honda CB Hornet 160R, Apache RTR 1604V, Suzuki Gixxer and Pulsar NS160. However, some of these bikes offer more features than the Yamaha bike and also are more fuel efficient. However, Yamaha has its own set of followers who love the other members like the R3, YZF R15 and more.
Yamaha R15 V3 is your ideal everyday sportsbike with a great mileage at an affordable price. It is the most popular performance bike under Rs 3 Lakhs and also one of the cheapest ones. Check out its price, top speed, mileage and images.
Yamaha gives out the best performance bikes and most of the bikes crave for one of them. Back at its time, it gave us RX100 as a low powered beast. Now, its low powered monster is the Yamaha R15 V3.
R15 V3 is a sportsbike, no doubt. The lowered clip-on handlebars for the dedicated riding position, sharp creases and the sporty rake give it a premium sporty look. Also, it comes with Yamaha Racing Blue and Racing Grey, completing the typical performance bike look.
The bike is all perfect but the lack of ABS makes it vulnerable to easy skids. Also, the dedicated riding position may not comply with many riders.
The sportsbike mainly competes with Pulsar RS200, Duke 125, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and Duke 200. Without any further ado, check out the price, features, images, colors and the top speed of the bike.

On the other hand, the international model gets a slightly different wheelbase and USD front forks.
The average mileage is a bit lower than that offered by the previous model. The average figure of the mileage is recorded at 37 KMPL. Pretty decent for a 150 CC sports bike.
Yamaha R15 V3 claims to record the top speed at 136 KMPH. Currently, R15 gives the highest top speed figure in its segment. It clocks 0-100 KMPH in flat 12 seconds, given that it is powered just by a 150 CC engine.

Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 – Design
The new Yamaha R15 V3.0 looks sportier than V2.0. Thanks to many new body panels and bits like USD forks, the Version 3.0 looks bigger. Also, new color options and sporty decals should make the bike more attractive. The ‘pièce de résistance’ are new LED headlamps. Once aboard, you’ll be quick to appreciate the new digital speedo console. Also, the bike could have a more comfortable seating position for both the rider and the pillion. It’s worth a mention that the V2.0 has faced a lot of flak for an uncomfortable pillion seat. Some design inspiration could also come from the YZF R125 and YZF R6. Between the international V3.0 and Indian model, the former looks sportier thanks to upside-down front forks and alloy foot pegs. Both of these are missing from the Indian model.
It will continue to lock horns with the CBR150R and Suzuki Gixxer SF. If taken into a broader concept, it can also compete with the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 and KTM RC 200, as they both also share the sports bike body.

Stay tuned to CarBlogIndia for latest news updates on the Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 Price, Launch Date, Specifications, Mileage, Top Speed, and Images.
Yamaha FZ and YZF series will soon sport Bluetooth-enabled instrument clusters. The update will most likely come next year, along with new BS-6 engines onboard.
Yamaha India is planning to bring the facelifted version of Yamaha FZ in 2019. With that, it also plans to upgrade all of its bike with BS-6 engines. However, premium bikes from the brand will also get Bluetooth enabled instrument clusters.
Probably by next year, Yamaha plans to update its two-wheelers with BS-6 engines. It has already started testing next-gen Yamaha FZ-S. It also plans to upgrade Yamaha R15 V3 with Anti-Braking system.
Earlier, Bluetooth connected speedometers came on very premium motorcycles like Ducati. However, now, it has come to the regular models as well. TVS Ntorq 125 and KTM Duke 390 are two examples who have Bluetooth instrument clusters.
The Bluetooth connected speedometer is likely to debut on bikes like Yamaha FZ-S, FZ-25, Fazer, Fazer 25, R15 V3 and more premium bikes. As per initial reports, Yamaha plans to shift its focus from the mass-production commuter segment to premium bikes segment (Above 150cc).
Features onboard the speedometer will include notification alert, call alert, turn-by-turn GPS navigation, controlling music and advanced telematics and information about the bike. For using the Bluetooth cluster, the user will have to first download an Application on the phone.
The cluster will also display information like distance covered, clock, RPM, average fuel economy, top-speed achieved and riding range. This information will also be shown on the mobile application.
As per Yamaha, in recent times, the Indian buyers are more inclined towards technology. The usage of smartphones has increased in a person’s life and its integration with the bike would result in better results.
With this upgrade, the prices are set to increase by a margin. However, Yamaha believes that the buyers will agree to pay more for this particular feature. As of now, not many bikes offer a Bluetooth connected speedometer, and definitely not under Rs 1.5 Lakhs.
Yamaha FZ and R15 are the best sellers of the brand. While the FZ clocks over 20,000 units per month on an average, R15 garners over 10,000 units. Riding on their success, Yamaha now plans to focus on these bikes rather than sub-150cc bikes.
2018 has been great so far. We got to see many new bikes launching in our market. Out of all these, these are the top 10 bike launches of 2018. It includes commuter bikes, performance bikes and some retro bikes.
This year, we saw many promising launches. It started with Bajaj Avenger Street 180, Yamaha YZF R15 V3 to the revival of Jawa Motorcycles and launch of Royal Enfield 650 Twins.
One good thing about this year is that there were a lot of performance and lifestyle bike launches. Most of these vehicles are quite succesfully running in the market. This indicates that more buyers are shifting towards the concept of lifestyle bikes rather than the commuter ones.
So, here is the list of top 10 bike launches of 2018 with relevant details of the bikes mentioned.
Bajaj Avenger Street 180

February 2018
Price (ex-showroom)
Rs 87,287
Engine
180cc DTS-i
Power/Torque
15.2 BHP/13.7 Nm
Transmission
5-speed gearbox
Avenger Street 180 was launched back in February. After Street 180, Bajaj discontinued the 150cc Avenger. The Street 180 gets a mean all-black colour work with light decals. The latest colour work makes Avenger look like a modern cruiser with no chrome details and new-age bodywork. It comes with the same 180cc engine that comes in Pulsar 180. At a price of Rs 87,287, it is the cheapest cruiser in town.
Another big launch in February was of the advanced Yamaha R15 V3. With this new update, R15 made its stand in the market as the most-affordable performance bike in town. With V3, the performance, power, ride handling and features improved. It continued with the same 155cc liquid-cooled engine but got Variable Valve Actuation, which enhances low-range torque delivery and average mileage. It now rivals with the likes of KTM Duke 125.
The list of launches in February just keeps adding up. Another one is the Thunderbird X series. Available in the same 350cc and 500cc variants, both the cruisers are based on the regular Thunderbird series. However, Thunderbird 350X and 500X get some visual upgrades like all-black colour work, alloy wheels and lowered handlebars to make it a street-friendly version. Thunderbird X series is now equipped with dual-channel ABS setup as well.
The Apache RTR 160 name got an upgrade in this march, with the launch of TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. The new version got naked street style look matched with a new bodywork, revised engine and upgraded features as well. Everything has been upgraded in the new version, but the TVS racing DNA remains constant. It competes with the likes of other sporty-commuters including Honda CB Hornet 160R, Yamaha FZ-S FI, Suzuki Gixxer and Bajaj Pulsar NS160.
This year, Hero made an entry in the premium motorcycle segment. With its new Xtreme 200R, it entered the 200cc segment. It is the cheapest 200cc motorcycle when compared to Duke 200, Apache RTR 200 4V and Pulsar NS200. However, the power figures are much lesser than other 200cc bikes. It comes with single-channel ABS as standard fitment, which is a segment first feature.
BMW Motorrad also introduced its entry-level premium motorcycles in India. The 300cc naked bike and Adventure bike are built in partnership with TVS at their Tamil Nadu plant. G310R is a naked bike with all the typical street naked looks, whereas G310GS is a dual-purpose adventure bike. Both come with the same 313cc engine but the suspension and riding purpose it totally different.
TVS introduced a new commuter motorcycle in India, named Radeon. It is a regular 110cc bike meant to take on Hero Splendor, Honda Dream and Bajaj Platina. However, it receives some mild additional features, which gives it an edge. The features include Synchronized Braking, USB charging slot, side stand indicator, economy meter and LED DRLs.
Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650
Launch Date
November 2018
Price (ex-showroom)
Rs 2.50 Lakhs to Rs 2.85 Lakhs

648cc twin-cylinder engine

Royal Enfield launched its most anticipated bikes of the year. RE 650 Twins are now available for display and test rides across all dealerships. The deliveries of the same are scheduled to begin by January. The Twins come with a twin-cylinder 648cc engine, that is the currently the most powerful in production. The Interceptor is a classic roadster, whereas Continental GT 650 is an American-styled Cafe Racer.
Jawa Motorcycles made a comeback this year with 3 new motorcycles. The original Jawa is back with striking similarities with the new model. Along with it, is Jawa 42, which is a modern version of the new Jawa. Jawa Perak is a factory-customer Bobber motorcycle, which will be later available in 2019. Now, the Jawa is back to compete with its original rival, Royal Enfield.
The last one on the list is the newly launched KTM Duke 125. The baby KTM was manufactured in India for a long time but has been introduced now. It gets the trademark KTM styling with the orange Trellis cradle and loud decals over the body. It is the first performance bike in 125cc segment and also the most affordable one. It competes with the likes of Yamaha R15 V3, Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.
Yamaha Saluto RX and 125 get Unified Braking system, which is another name for Centralized Braking System. The prices have increased by Rs 3000 – 4000 on each variant.
Yamaha has introduced Centralized Braking System in its 110cc and 125cc commuter motorcycles. Yamaha Saluto RX and 125 get UBS. The prices start at Rs 52,000 going up to Rs 61,500 (ex-showroom).
UBS (Unified Braking System) refers to the process when the rear brake is applied fully, the front brake is also applied partially. Yamaha has intensified its motorcycles under 125cc with UBS for better braking power.
As per the government’s upcoming safety norms, all two-wheelers under 125cc must be equipped with the centralized/synchronized braking system. Two-wheelers above 125cc should be equipped with Anti-Braking System.
Gradually, all the two-wheelers will be updated before the safety norms kick in from April 2019. Some bike manufacturers have already introduced the updated models in India.

Yamaha India is also updating its other two-wheelers as per the upcoming regulations. The next-gen of Yamaha FZ-S FI with ABS has been spotted testing already. R15 V3 is also due to get ABS, which it might get by mid-2019.
Yamaha XTZ 125 light-weight dual-purpose bike has been spotted testing in India. It could be launched to rival the likes of upcoming Hero Xpulse 200.
Just recently, Yamaha stated that it will focus on premium motorcycles segment and also plans to introduce a couple of them. Its premium motorcycles include all models placed above FZ and Fazer.
Yamaha XTZ 125, a dual-purpose ADV offering has been spotted testing on the Indian roads. This is the first time that it has been spotted and we believe that Yamaha has started working on its future plan.
The trend of dual-purpose adventure bikes is going up with a couple of launches this year and some scheduled for 2019. The list includes RE Himalayan, Triumph Tiger, Kawasaki Versys and upcoming Hero Xpulse 200 and KTM 390 Adventure.
Usually, enthusiasts use these bikes for dual-purpose – commuting as well as off-roading. Some are proper off-roading bikes which are illegal to ride on the roads. Pure off-roaders come without any headlights, turn indicators and specific tires.
Yamaha XTZ 125 is available in the South East Asian markets as the only dual-purpose bike. Globally, it has many products lined up for this purpose.
The dual-purpose bike gets a single-cylinder air-cooled 124cc engine that puts out 12.5 BHP and 11.6 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
For suspension, it uses telescopic forks at the front and a swingarm suspension at the back. At both the ends, it gets a travel of 180mm. The minimum ground clearance is 260mm and it weighs light at 118 kgs.
Yamaha XTZ 125 uses a single disc brake at the front, paired with ABS. At the back, it gets a drum brake setup. It also gets off-road-ready 21-inch tires at the front and 18-inch at the back.
The ADV gets a fuel tank capacity of 11 litres. We expect the mileage to be around 55 kmpl, which makes it offer a riding range of over 550 kms.
It it launches in India, we expect a pricing range of around Rs 1 Lakhs. This might be the entry-level premium motorcycle from Yamaha.
At this price, it will lock horns with upcoming Hero Xpulse 200 and Xpulse 200T. As per our expectations, Xpulse will also have a price tag of around Rs 1 Lakhs.
At this price, Yamaha XTZ 125 will also face some heat from the 150-160cc bikes segment.
Yamaha has sent out invites for a launch happening in January. We speculate that it might be Yamaha MT-15, the naked version of R15 launching in India.
In an earlier report, Yamaha India confirmed that it would focus on bringing premium two-wheelers in India. It decided to take a detour from the commuter motorcycles. Ofcourse, its premium motorcycles are making most of the sales.
In a recent invite sent out to many publications, Yamaha will launch a new premium product on January 21 in Bengaluru. As of now, various speculations of the upcoming product are circulating. We speculate that Yamaha might launch a new performance motorcycle.
Yamaha MT-15 was unveiled globally in October 2018. MT-15 is a naked street motorcycle, which uses the same engine and mechanics of the popular Yamaha R15 V3. So basically, it will be a naked performance motorcycle.
Currently, Yamaha retails MT-09, the 900cc naked motorcycle. Other naked motorcycles include Yamaha FZ-25 and FZ-S in India.
Yamaha MT-15 looks similar to its elder 900cc sibling. In the front, it gets a new bug-styled headlamp with gold anodized USD forks. From the side, it maintains the naked muscular looks with heavy creases. You can see the minimal bodywork on the bike.
At the rear part, it gets the lifted pillion seat, which like the R15 might be uncomfortable for the pillion riders. Overall, it maintains the rough mean machine styling, coupled up with the efficient and performance focused R15’s engine.
Although, the Indian spec Yamaha MT-15 might lose out on the USD forks and some other mechanicals. Like R15, it might continue with the conventional Telescopic forks with Swing arm suspension at the back.
Yamaha MT-15 will continue with the same 155cc liquid cooled VVA engine. Variable Valve Actuation helps the engine to offer generous torque in mid-range along with improved fuel efficieny. We achieved an average mileage of 50 kmpl on the Yamaha R15 V3.
The engine produces 19 BHP and 14.8 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed slip and assist clutch.
There are chances that Yamaha MT-15 might come with BS-6 engine as well as an ABS setup. It has begun testing the 2019 Yamaha FZ-S FI, which will get BS-6 engines and ABS.
If Yamaha MT-15 makes a debut in January, we expect the prices to be around Rs 1.3 Lakhs. It will compete with the likes of KTM Duke 125, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and Bajaj Pulsar NS200.
Other speculations state that updated versions of Yamaha FZ-S, R15 V3, Fazer and FZ25 might be launched on that date. All of these motorcycles are yet to get ABS and BS-6 engines.
Latest spy shots of the 2019 Yamaha FZ-S V3 show that it gets newly designed LED headlights and striking similarities to Yamaha FZ-25.
2019 Yamaha FZ-S V3 has been spotted again on the Greater Noida Expressway. The clear images show revisions to the fuel tank and rear styling of the bike.
We expect the naked bike to come equipped with ABS and BS-6 engine. Reports say that it might get full LED lamps and a new digital instrument cluster too.
Based on the video and the earlier spy shot, it seems like the next-gen gets some revisions to the body. Looks like it gets more muscular in this edition.
In the recent press invite sent by Yamaha, they have mentioned that a product is launching on 21st January 2019. There are chances that updated versions of Yamaha FZ-S, Fazer, FZ 25 and R15 might be launched.
The next-gen Yamaha FZ-S FI follows the typical FZ series silhouette. The beefier tank and the sharp muscle creases indicate that it could borrow some styling cues from the FZ25. The more premium FZ25 sports a sharp design with much more sportier looks than the current FZ.
Based on the test mules, we say that the next-gen Yamaha FZ-S FI will reportedly get full LED lamps, a digital instrument cluster and LED tail lights.
It will introduce a single-channel ABS setup paired up with front and rear disc brakes. Reports say that it might sport clip-on handlebars in the next-gen.
Revisions to the bodywork include a beefier fuel tank, rear tyre hugger, a bigger heat shield on the exhaust and a single seat.
The next-gen Yamaha FZ-S FI continues with the conventional telescopic forks and the same set of alloy wheels, diamond frame chassis, turn indicators and fully digital instrument cluster.
The engines on the next-gen FZ-S will continue to be the same set. It will run on the same 149cc air-cooled SOHC engine tuned to meet BS-VI. The engine puts out 13 BHP and 12.8 Nm of peak torque.
The engine pairs up with a 5-speed gearbox with a wet multi-plate clutch. For better fuel efficiency and performance, the bike uses a Fuel Injection system.
As of now, the Yamaha FZ-S FI is one of the popular bikes in its segment and is also the best selling Yamaha product.
The naked bike competes with the likes of Suzuki Gixxer, Honda CB Hornet 160R, Bajaj Pulsar NS160, and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. Amongst its rivals, only Gixxer and Hornet get optional ABS setup.
Yamaha is launching a new product in January, followed by ABS update to its existing models. Check out the list of upcoming new Yamaha bikes in India for 2019 and 2020.
Yamaha India has decided to shift its focus on to premium motorcycles above 150cc. Actually, the premium models of the brand are making more sales than the mass-produced ones.
Yamaha made a grand launch in 2018 with the new Yamaha YZF R15 V3. The performance bike is making huge numbers in the market.
From the FZ range of motorcycles to the Fascino scooter and a few products in between (YZF-R3), Yamaha has had a good run in India. Now, Yamaha plans to enter entry-level performance motorcycle segment.
So, here is a list of upcoming new Yamaha bikes and scooters in India, to know what the brand has in store for us in near future.

Yamaha MT-15 was recently showcased in Thailand, where it might replace the M-Slaz naked bike. Reports suggest that the naked streetfighter version of R15 might launch in India by 2019. Yamaha R15 is the most affordable performance motorcycle and this might be another performance motorcycle from Yamaha. It will go against the likes of KTM Duke 200 because MT-15 will be priced higher than usual 150cc bikes. We expect a price range of around Rs 1.3 Lakhs or so. It will also be equipped with Anti-Braking safety feature.
The MT-03 is a naked version of the YZF-R3. So, minus the fairing, it is the same as the R3. This means a 321cc parallel-twin engine powers the MT-03 and makes 42BHP power and 30Nm torque. This engine will be paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The MT-03 borrows its styling cues from bigger bikes such as the MT-09. In the features department, this bike will likely come with ABS as standard equipment. Yamaha may give it a slipper clutch too but the likelihood of that happening is low. Expect this bike to come to India in Black and Blue colours sometime in 2019. Its competition will include BMW G310R and KTM Duke 390.

2019 Yamaha R3 will receive minor visual upgrades to make it look sportier than the current gen. It will receive revisions to the front portion, its trademark gills and will sort a bigger air intake. The alloy wheels and the rest of the body remain the same. It will continue with dual-channel ABS, LED headlamps and its twin-cylinder 321cc engine. The engine produces 41.4 BHP and 29.6 Nm of peak torque. The prices will increase by a little margin.
Recently, the 2019 version of FZ-S was spotted testing in India. The updated version will receive BS-6 compliant engines along with the ABS feature. As per the government’s rule, all the two-wheelers above 125cc must have ABS. Also, it might receive LED headlamps, as seen in the test mule. Rest of the mechanicals and features will remains the same as the current FZ-S.
The NMax scooter was showcased by Yamaha at 2016 Auto Expo. The company will likely bring it to India to compete against the likes of Aprilia SR 150. In this application, the fuel-injected 155cc engine of the NMax will make 15BHP power and 14.4Nm torque. Paired with a CVT automatic gearbox, this scooter should be quite zippy. Incidentally, this 155cc engine will also perform duties on the YZF-R15 V3.0.
The new 100cc bike from Yamaha will likely come during the festive season of 2017. This bike will likely replace the Saluto RX in Yamaha’s India lineup. Using the same engine as the Saluto RX, this bike will likely have power and torque outputs of 9BHP and 9Nm, respectively. Expect to see this bike sport a 4-speed gearbox.

The new 100cc scooter from Yamaha will likely be a replacement for the Cygnus Alpha scooter. The sales of the Cygnus Alpha have not been as great as Yamaha would have liked while the Fascino has been doing quite nicely. So, the new 100cc scooter will likely draw styling inspiration from the Fascino. However, its proportions will likely be similar to the Cygnus Alpha. It will likely sport the same 113cc carbureted engine as on the Cygnus Alpha and will likely make 9BHP power and 9Nm torque with an automatic gearbox onboard. This scooter will likely rival the Activa 110 from Honda and Jupiter from TVS.
So, this is all when it comes to the upcoming new Yamaha bikes in India. We hope you liked our story. Please let us know what you think about the story in the comments below. For more such stories, stay tuned to Car Blog India.
As per our expectations, new Yamaha FZ-S V3.0 might be launched on January 21. So, here are some few things that you can expect from the new-generation.
Yamaha India is launching a new product on January 21. They have not mentioned any other details about the launch. We expect the debut of 2019 Yamaha FZ-S V3.0.
The next-gen FZ-S has been spotted testing for a couple of times now, on the Greater Noida Expressway. Although the test mules are under heavy camouflage, the upgrades to the naked bike can be seen.
Yamaha has decided to focus more on premium motorcycles, those of 150cc and above. So, its first step could be upgrading the FZ-S with latest features. Here are the things that you can expect from Yamaha FZ-S V3.0.
1. The first thing that you can expect from the next-gen FZ-S is fitment of ABS. As per the safety regulations, FZ-S will have to keep ABS as standard fitment. Currently, it is offered with a dual-disc setup. So, the V3 might offer a single-channel ABS setup.
2. In terms of design, we expect some revisions to the body and styling of Yamaha FZ-S V3.0. Based on the spy pics, it gets a resized and revamped fuel tank. Over the body, sharper muscle creases can be felt. The rear end also seems to be revised for a new look. Addition of a rear-tire hugger makes it look even sportier. Other minute revisions include an engine belly pan and a new exhaust muffler.
3. We expect some alterations to the features list. Yamaha FZ-S V3.0 might get a revised fully-digital instrument cluster and a full LED headlamp. There are chances of a new clip-on handlebar, which would result in even better riding dynamics.
4. Since the BS-6 emission norms are kicking in from 2020, most of the automakers are readying their existing model. If Yamaha updates FZ-S without the compliant engine, later it will have huge expenses for conversion. The engine specs will remain the same. It gets a 155cc engine that produces 13 BHP and 12.80 Nm of peak torque.
5. Lastly, we talk about the price expectations. Given the updates that it gets, the prices might go up by Rs 3000-4000. The current price of the bike is Rs 83,452 for the dual-disc brake variant. It competes with the likes of Suzuki Gixxer, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Bajaj Pulsar NS160 and Honda CB Hornet 160R.
Yamaha R15 is a fully faired sportsbike and is a perfect fit for a beginner rider. Check out this modified version which offers a touchscreen system, cruise control and a couple of other features too.
Many modified versions of Yamaha R15 either receive revised fenders, new colour option, graphics, new colour for the alloys and a redesigned bodywork. However, this one, gets some features which come in premium cars.
Kunal Custom Design has built the modified R15 which gets a 7-inch touchscreen system, cruise control, fingerprint startup and automatic wing mirrors. Other additions include LED projector headlamps and integrated turn indicators on the back of the mirrors.
The touchscreen infotainment system offers navigation, rearview camera, incoming message and a tyre-pressure monitoring system. For starting the bike, either you can scan your fingerprint, use the key or use your smartphone for it.
Your smartphone also allows the modified Yamaha R15 to display its current location. In case the owner is lost or the bike is stolen, the location tracker will be useful here. The bike also gets a movement sensitive ant-theft alarm.
Lastly, the modified Yamaha R15 gets cruise control option. This helps in a comfortable highway riding. With this, its extensive feature list, this is one heck of a desired bike.
Design changes on the bike include orange dipped alloy wheels, custom livery and carbon finish at the front. The modified Yamaha R15 is basically the R15 V2 underneath.
Now, Yamaha R15 V3 is sold in the market. It was introduced in June 2018. It gets a complete design overhaul with a more dedicated riding performance and of course, better racing manners.
R15 V3 gets a 155cc liquid-cooled VVA engine that puts out 19 BHP and 14.7 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
It comes with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system that helps the engine with more torque in mid-range as well as low-ends. It also helps the bike in offering superb mileage figures. In our road test, we were able to achieve 50 kmpl mileage.
We believe that on January 21, Yamaha India will launch the updated versions of Yamaha FZ, Fazer, FZ25 and R15 V3. All of these currently lack ABS, which will be compulsory post April 2019. We might also see the debut of Yamaha FZ-S V3 on that day.
Yamaha R15 V3 will soon be getting a dual-channel ABS unit. As per reports, some units have already been dispatched to dealerships.
Yamaha India is still quiet about its upcoming product that is launching on 21st January. Amidst all speculations, we believe that Yamaha FZ V3.0 along with ABS updated models will be introduced on that day.
Yamaha R15 V3 and FZ25 are in very much need of ABS. Both of these motorcycles are performance oriented and very popular in the sub-1.5 Lakhs budget. However, absence of ABS is an important issue to deal with.
Motorbeam reports that ABS variants of Yamaha R15 V3 are ready. They also say that many dealerships have started receiving updated units of the bike.
The safety norms are due in April 2019 and for sure, all the models above 125cc from every brand will have ABS setup. So, we know that the launch is just around the corner.
Yamaha R15 V3 will most likely receive a dual-channel ABS unit instead of a single-one. A dual-ABS unit is always better than a single unit. In case of single-ABS units, the front wheel are prevent from locking up, but the rear-wheels still lock up.
With dual-channel ABS on hand, we expect the prices of Yamaha R15 V3 to increase by Rs 10,000 or so. Currently, it retails at Rs 1.25 Lakhs and additional Rs 5,000 for the Movistar edition.
Other than the addition of ABS, there will be no mechanical or physical changes. The whole performance package remains the same as it is.
Yamaha R15 V3 comes with a 155cc liquid-cooled VVA engine. The engine puts out 19 BHP and 14.8 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed slipper clutch.
VVA or ‘Variable Valve Actuation’ system is helpful in offering generous torque to the bike in the low-end and mid-ranges. It also helps in increasing the overall fuel-efficiency, which during our test touched 50 kmpl.
Meanwhile, we also believe that Yamaha MT-15, the naked street version of R15 might launch in India. As of now, there are only speculations going around.
Since Yamaha decided to shift its focus on premium motorcycles, we believe that the first one from their global stable might be the MT-15. It uses the same engine and mechanics that come on Yamaha R15 V3.
Yamaha R15 V3 finally gets a dual-channel ABS unit, which is a first in the 150cc segment. Along with ABS, the bike gets a new Dark Knight colour option.
Just two days back, we reported that R15 V3 ABS has started reaching dealerships across the country. Now, Yamaha India has confirmed our doubts and has launched the much-awaited ABS variant.
Yamaha R15 V3 ABS has been priced at Rs 1.39 Lakhs for the Racing Blue and Thunder Grey colours. A new Dark Knight colour has also been introduced, priced at Rs 1.41 Lakhs (prices ex-showroom).
It is the first 150cc motorcycle to sport a dual-channel ABS. However, R15 has set itself, a class apart from the regular 150cc motorcycles. With this update, Yamaha R15 V3 gets even more desirable.
Other than these two updates, the bike gets no further changes. It continues with the same features and same engine specs, just with an added logo of ‘ABS’.
When we had the R15 V3 for our road test, we faced many problems in high-speed braking. The absence of ABS was felt badly, as the tires got locked immediately on sudden braking. In performance bikes like these, the need for ABS is highly felt.
Yamaha R15 V3 gets a 155cc liquid-cooled engine that produces 19.3 BHP @ 10,000 RPM and 14.7 Nm @ 8,500 RPM of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.
The mileage recorded on the bike went up to 50 kmpl. It records a top speed of 131 km/hr.
It gets the Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system, which assists in generating torque from low-range to mid-range through one camshaft and from mid-range to high-range through another camshaft, depending on the throttle. This also benefits the bike in achieving better mileage.
Features onboard include dual-LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, lowered clip-on handlebars, fully digital instrument cluster and now, ABS.
After the launch of ABS variants of both the motorcycles, we put Yamaha R15 V3 ABS against KTM Duke 200 ABS, based on the specifications.
Yamaha has introduced a dual-channel ABS unit in the R15 V3. The safety feature was much awaited on this performance bike. Along with it, a new colour on the Yamaha R15 V3 ABS has been introduced.
Back in November, KTM introduced ABS on its best-selling motorcycle, Duke 200. KTM Duke 200 also gets a dual-channel ABS unit.
You might wonder, why are we putting a sportsbike in comparison with a naked bike? The answer is that the price difference between both the motorcycles is now less and the difference between the power figures is also not that much.
So, let’s check out the specification comparison story on Yamaha R15 V3 ABS Vs KTM Duke 200.
Yamaha R15 V3 ABS Vs KTM Duke 200 ABS – Prices
Yamaha R15 V3 ABS
KTM Duke 200 ABS

R15 V3 ABS is priced at Rs 1.41 Lakhs for the new Dark Knight colour. The regular Racing Blue and Thunder Grey colours are priced at Rs 1.39 Lakhs. The ABS variant sees a hike of Rs 14,000.
Duke 200 ABS is priced at Rs 1.60 Lakhs. It is priced around Rs 20,000 more than R15 V3. The non-ABS variant continues at Rs 1.51 Lakhs.
R15 V3 gets a 155cc liquid-cooled engine that runs with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) system, for better performance. The engine produces 19.1 BHP and 14.7 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Duke 200 gets a 199.5cc liquid-cooled engine, putting out 24 BHP and 19.2 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed slip and assist clutch.
The power figures of Duke 200 are definitely more than R15. But a difference of 5 BHP and 5 Nm does matter a lot?

Yamaha R15 V3 ABS Vs KTM Duke 200 ABS – Riding Style
As we all know, Yamaha R15 V3 is a fully faired sportsbike. So, clip-on handlebars are a must. Specially, in the case of V3, the clip-on handlebars have been further lowered.
Now, the R15 offers a dedicated riding position, with the rider crouching on the fuel tank and foot pegs set in a racing manner. If you try sitting upright for a long time, you might experience pain in the wrist.
On the other hand, Duke 200 is a naked street bike. It offers a relaxed upright position, but the handlebar and footpegs are set as per a performance bike.
For cornering, you will have to crouch to the fuel tank to stabilize the motorcycle. However, both the bikes are performance oriented. keeping in mind that the rider has some racing DNA in his body.
Yamaha R15 V3 gets premium features, somewhat better than the last-generation. Following are the features of the bike:
Split LED headlamps

For braking purposes, both the motorcycles use front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS unit.
Yamaha R15 V3 ABS Vs KTM Duke 200 ABS – Verdict
Based on the specification, we definitely say that Duke 200 is more powerful than R15. On the other hand, R15 is cheaper by Rs 20,000 than Duke.
First, it depends upon the riding style of the buyer. If the buyer is ready for a dedicated riding position then R15, otherwise Duke 200.
Based on the public and ownership review, Duke 200 stalls too much at the lower gears. Probably, the engine has not been tuned properly for the low-end ratios.
Yamaha R15 is the complete opposite and is a charm in the traffic. With the help of the VVA system, one valve provides torque while going from low-range to mid-range. As of which, the bike can take low speeds at high gears.
So, what do you think about both the bikes? Which one will make it your garage?
Finally, we have some undisguised photos of the 2019 Yamaha FZ-S V3, spotted at a dealership. Its main highlight includes the addition of a new LED headlamp.
Yamaha is going to launch a two-wheeler on 21st January. We believe they will unveil the next generation of the Yamaha FZ-S. Ahead of the launch, we have spotted the updated motorcycle without any cover.
2019 Yamaha FZ-S has been spotted at a warehouse. Based on the photos, we can say that with the addition of ABS, it also gets a revised styling and new LED headlamps.
In the front, it gets the new LED headlamps with LED DRLs. The front fender seems to revised and styled up. The fuel tank is now larger with air-ducts on the either side.
The 2019 Yamaha FZ-S will get ABS as standard fitment. Most likely, it will get a single-channel ABS unit. to keep the costs low. It also gets a dual-tone colour option, as seen on both the bikes.
However, no changes have been made to the rear portion of the bike. It continues with the same pillion grab rail and seating arrangement. Summarising; now the 2019 Yamaha FZ-S V3 looks more like the elder, FZ25.
Mechanically, the new FZ might continue with the same engine and mechanical specifications.
Currently, it gets a 149.5cc air-cooled fuel-injected engine that puts out 13 BHP and 12.8 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
For suspension purposes, the 2019 Yamaha FZ-S V3 will continue with the telescopic forks at the front and mono-shock rear suspension at the back.
In terms of braking, there are chances that Yamaha might offer a single-disc with single ABS variant along with the option of double-disc with single-ABS.
The feature list will be altered to a bit. We expect a revised instrument cluster with more information to be on the new generation.
Ahead of the secretive launch on 21st January, Yamaha MT-15 naked motorcycle has been spotted testing in India. It will be positioned as a performance motorcycle.
Yamaha MT-15 was unveiled this year in Thailand. It borrows many styling bits from the FZ25, but is basicaly a naked version of the R15 V3. Both are performance oriented, sharing the same engine.
As the regular readers know that Yamaha India has sent out invites for a launch on 21st January. A lot of speculations have been going on for either the launch of Yamaha MT-15 or FZ V3.0. But here we have the first set of spy pics of the MT-15, testing in India.
The spotted test mule is covered under camouflage but looks like a proper MT series bike with the aggressive front portion and a sporty appeal. Globally, there are much bigger MT motorcycles.
If seen, the Yamaha MT-15 shares a lot of parts with R15. Both the motorcycles share conventional telescopic forks at the front, multi-spoke alloy wheels and the same chassis.
We expect the MT-15 to get split LED headlamps and the fully digital instrument cluster that comes in R15 V3.
While we compare the Indian-spec MT-15 to the Thailand version, there are some differences. The Thai-spec uses Upside-Down forks instead of the regular telescopic ones.
Changes in the rear-shock absorber, fuel tank, tail lamp portion and alloy wheels are seen in the spotted test mule.
Yamaha MT-15 will get R15’s 155cc liquid-cooled SOHC engine paired with the VVA system. The engine produces 19.3 BHP and 14.8 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed transmission wit slip and assist clutch.
We expect the Yamaha MT-15 to be priced in a range similar to the Yamaha R15 V3. So, we expect a price tag of Rs 1.3 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
Yamaha MT-15 has been spotted testing in India for the first time now. Here are the expected launch date, prices, features and specifications.
Yamaha has always been a good sales runner in the premium motorcycle segment. It tried its luck with SZ-R and Saluto, but the performance has not been that well.
Last year, Yamaha stated that it will soon shift its focus from the mass produced commuter motorcycles to lifestyle ones. Yamaha’s lifestyle motorcycle range starts from FZ and Fazer.
Now, the brand is gearing up for updating its lineup with ABS feature. R15 V3 already gets one and FZ-S V3 has been spotted testing recently. Soon, updated versions of Fazer, FZ25 and Fazer 25 will also be launched.
Meanwhile, Yamaha is planning to bring a whole new motorcycle in India. It plans to bring the Yamaha MT-15 to India soon. We suspect the motorcycle to launch on 21st January.
Yamaha MT-15 Launch Date
Launch Date
21st January 2019
Yamaha has sent out invites for the launch of an unknown product on 21st January. We believe that’s when they launch this naked street fighter.
Since it is a naked street version of the R15, they both share the same chassis and engine specs. So, we expect the MT-15 to start off at around Rs 1.3 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
MT-15 it will be a pure performance motorcycle similar to R15 V3. That’s why the price expectations fall in place.
Yamaha MT-15 Design
Based on the looks, we can truly say that it belongs to the MT family. The bigger capacity motorcycle like MT-09 display the same aggressive nature with a muscular bodywork.
Although, the Indian-spec MT-15 looks a bit different than the Thai-spec. The alloy wheels and chassis are borrowed from the R15. The front portion of the bike looks somewhat similar to the FZ25.
The India-spec MT-15 misses out on gold anodized USD Forks, Spiral Alloy wheels and possibly the bug-shaped LED headlamps.
The spy shots suggest that MT-15 with its dominating naked street fighter looks, stand out in the crowd. Especially, the aggressive design will attract more attention to it.
MT-15 will sport the same engine that comes in R15 V3. It will use the compliant 155cc liquid cooled SOHC engine with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation). The engine produces 19.3 BHP and 14.8 Nm of peak torque. It will come mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The VVA system helps in generation of torque at lower as well as mid-range, distinctively working towards offering better mileage figures.
Since the emission norms are nearing, so there are possibilities of the MT-15 getting a BS-6 engine.

We have taken our suggestions refering the Thai-Spec MT-15. We expect it to get a fuel tank capacity of 10 Litres. With the help of VVA, R15 V3’s engine delivered a whooping 50 kmpl in our road test.
With MT0-15, similar mileage figure of 50 kmpl is expected. The total riding range should be somewhere around 500 kms. The top speed achievable on this bike is around 131 km/hr.
The feature list of MT-15 is expected to be similar to that of Yamaha R15 V3. Following are the features that you can expect onboard:
Fully Digital Instrument Cluster
Dual-channel ABS
LED headlamps
LED tail light
Slip and Assist Clutch
Split Seats
Yamaha MT-15 Suspension and Braking
Front Suspension

Unlike the Thai-spec, the India-spec MT-15 uses conventional telescopic forks and a rear mono shock absorber.
For braking purposes, it will surely get front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS as standard fitment. Basically, the suspension and braking parts borrowed from R15 V3.
MT-15 is 1965mm long, 800mm wide and 1065mm tall. It gets a respectable ground clearance of 155mm and a long wheelbase of 1335mm. The seat height of the bike is 810mm, which is considered a bit high.
Fortunately, it weighs considerably lower at 133 kgs. The dimensions hint that it will be nimble to handle and quick on the toes.
MT-15 will debut as a naked performance motorcycle. In its expected price range, there are very few motorcycles. Most of them are more powerful than the MT-15.
Its square-one rival will be KTM Duke 125. KTM recently launched the baby Duke and priced it at Rs 1.18 Lakhs. It is also a performance-oriented naked bike. However, the power figures are lower than MT-15. Duke 125 has an advantage over the fact that despite being the baby, it still sounds like every other KTM.
Other rivals in the competition include Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. Both are 200cc motorcycle and not pure performance oriented. Its just that a similar pricing puts them in a competition.
The power figures of both the motorcycles are not that higher than MT-15. The engine capacity is bigger, which offers refinement has high speeds.

Yamaha MT-15 Vs KTM Duke 125 – Design
Talking about the design, MT-15 looks a lot like the elder MT motorcycles. The typical aggressive and muscular styling paired with sharp creased body will attract a lot of people.
On the other hand, Duke 125 still follows the teenage dream with loud decals, funky graphics and the orange alloy wheels. It does not mean that Duke 125 looks boring. Duke 125 certainly is amongst the most styling motorcycles under Rs 1.5 Lakhs.
Summarizing, MT-15 looks a bit mature which will attract the millennial as well as a mature buyer. Duke 125 will find more buyers in the youth, probably under the age of 25.
Going by the engine specifications and the price speculations, we believe MT-15 will give a tough competition to Duke 125. The pricing range is not that different and so are the power figures.
The feature list is also similar, with Duke missing out LED lights and rear ABS. However, Duke still gets a advantage over MT-15 because of its trademark exhaust note. That’s what a lot of people are mad about.
Yamaha Nmax is speculated to be launched in India for a long time. We believe, in its current state of tune, it will be more powerful than Aprilia SR150.
Yamaha Nmax 150 is long due in the Indian market. It has been spotted earlier in India at a showroom in Chennai. After that, there have been no spottings of the scooter.
However, many reports say that Nmax will be launched in India this year. Since Yamaha has decided to shift its focus from mass-market commuter two-wheelers to premium two-wheelers, our speculations have gotten even stronger.
Currently, Yamaha Nmax is available in the South-East Asian markets. It uses the same 155cc engine that comes in R15 V3, but in a much less powerful tune. The power figure stands at 14.8 BHP and 14.4 Nm of peak torque.
If it comes with the same international-spec engine, it might actually be much more powerful than Aprilia SR150.
Piaggio currently has 2 150cc scooters, SR150 and Vespa 150. The power figures of Vespa are slightly low because it is comfort and styling oriented.
Aprilia SR150 is capable of delivering 10.4 BHP and 11.4 Nm of peak torque. If you see, there is a clear difference of 4 BHP and 3 Nm. Considering both the scooters as performance-aimed, then this figure matters.
However, another set of reports say that Yamaha Nmax will get the same 155cc engine but in a further lower state of tune. Probably, the figures might drop down by 1-2 BHP. In this case, the engine might be retuned for better fuel efficiency.
Yamaha NMax will be equipped with many premium features, that include a fully digital speedometer, ABS, front disc brakes, LED headlamps and LED tail lamps.
There are less chances of the scooter being equipped with a bluetooth integrated cluster. However, since it is a premium scooter, we cannot rule out the possibilities.
